The Start of Jane’s Professional Journey

From humble financial beginnings, Jane worked full time – and often two jobs — while attending University of Houston at night, receiving her BA in English in 1982. At University of Houston Law School, Jane earned a position on Law Review by finishing her first year in the top ten percent of her entering class. In law school, Jane was inducted into The Baron’s Society, excelled in moot court, and won several American Jurisprudence awards by finishing first in those courses. Graduating from law school in 1986, Jane was recruited by Vinson & Elkins but, after several years, Jane felt that she was not suited for such a huge firm and she accepted an offer from a small personal injury law firm.

A Shift Toward Mediation

After trying lawsuits for several years, Jane decided to return to school. So, while continuing to work as a Trial Lawyer, Jane began graduate school at the highly respected Clinical Psychology Department at the University of Houston at Clear Lake where she distinguished herself by being inducted into Psi Chi, a National Honor Society for Psychology. In 1994, Jane stopped practicing law cold turkey and began her true calling as a full-time mediator specializing in high conflict cases.

A Life Long Commitment To Education

In addition to her undergraduate, law school, and master’s degree studies, Jane has completed an enormous amount of additional training. For example, after completing over 1000 hours of training, writing a thesis and passing a qualifying examination, Jane was granted the title of “Director of Psychodrama” by Westwood Institute in Los Angeles, California, an internationally recognized training institute in the therapy modality known as psychodrama. Additionally, she has studied with a number of internationally recognized experts associated with the Solution Focused Brief Therapy Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

An Experienced Mediator You Can Trust

An attorney since 1986 and a licensed psychotherapist since 1998, Jane has maintained a full-time mediation practice specializing in high conflict cases since 1994. Jane has been consistently credentialed by the TMCA as a Distinguished Credentialed Mediator every year since 2008. A passionate advocate of education, Jane is also a fellow of The Texas Bar College, an honorary society of lawyers who are amongst the best trained attorneys in Texas by virtue of acquiring at least double the number of CLE hours required by the State Bar of Texas.
